The Top Digital Cameras Take Magnificent Pictures

Filed under: News and Views - 29 Dec 2008

These days most people are looking to replace their old film-based cameras with a new digital model. However, there are countless models on the market today and finding top digital cameras can be a bit frustrating, especially if you have a budget you are trying to stick to. With resolutions, optical zoom, movie features and sound to think about, all those camera stats can be a bit daunting.

There are some great top digital cameras out there that come with a variety of price tags, so you have some thinking to do. What will be the defining purpose of your new digital camera and what features are most important to you? Once you have those answers, you can then search for your camera based on the price tag.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-600 is a great buy with 6.0 mega pixel resolution and a 3x optical zoom to boot! The LCD screen is a respectable two inches and the camera offers a great point and shoot feature that even a wet behind the ear camera newbie could master.

The Canon Powershot A540 is another 6.0 mega pixel steal under $200 and ranks right up there with other top digital cameras in its price range. This camera has a 4x optical zoom along with a roomy 2.5 inch LCD screen for viewing and lining up images. With twenty-one shooting modes to choose from along with auto-focus and an optional waterproof casing, this Canon is an affordable winner.

Under the $400 range, you can find quite a few top digital cameras that will deliver some great quality photos. The Olympus Stylus 1000 is a handy 10.0 mega pixel camera with about twenty different picture modes to choose from for the best picture quality.  The coolest thing about this camera is that it is weatherproof and can handle wind, rain and other extreme temperatures.

The photographer using a digital camera can see the picture before they take it, and they can examine the image captured as soon as the action is complete.  They will be able to instantaneously decide if they would like to keep that image.  If they are not happy with their work, the photographer can delete that photo and continue to take pictures.

The latest digital cameras can be used to print the photos as they are taken or soon afterward.  With the proper equipment, a photographer can take a picture and hook it up to a printer to see the image.  These cameras can also be used to send the pictures instantaneously around the block or around the world.  Relatives thousands of miles away can have a look at the latest family activities within seconds.  They will be able to print these out for their archives as well.  The whole family should enjoy the images captured with the best digital cameras.

Photography Tips For First Timers No One Will Have Told You About

Filed under: News and Views - 27 Dec 2008

Yes, digital photography for beginners is possible. However there are some differences between taking a photograph with a digital camera and with a conventional camera.

Taking advantage of the differences with the revolutionary digital data format is genuinely going to serve you, you can read about the fundamentals with my basic digital photography guide located at my site free of charge. It really doesn’t matter who you are, with a little dedication you can learn this stuff.

Gaining a Collection of Images

Probably one of the most powerful advantages of the digital format is the fact that you are practically no longer limited with the number of photos you will be able to take. Never again will you have to pay for a whole load of prints that you didn’t even want.

Instead of keeping all the images, edit your photographs so the only ones that are left are the really good shots that you want to keep. This is because you do not want to have to go through loads and loads of useless images to find your good ones later.

Ways to best go about storing your digital photos

You will be able to switch from a high-resolution picture to a lower resolution to save on storage space. Lower resolution images can take up considerably less space, although you’ll lose some quality so you may want to experiment a little bit. If you have plans to have large prints of your photos done, you’ll probably want to keep the images in a high resolution format. However if the photos are destined to be viewed on screen then in virtually all cases a low resolution will be fine.

It is also possible with many cameras to change the compression rate/format that your camera saves its images in. If your camera can do this the feature could be used to save space on your camera’s memory card and so give you access to a large number of photos on the same card. You should increase your storage space because eventually, you will run out. This will instantly bring your level of fun down if you were planning to take pictures and you cannot because you just ran out of memory.

The dreaded battery issue

Many people just do not realize it, but the camera’s battery is very important. The first thing that will probably go wrong is a battery that has run out of juice.

The first and most obvious thing to do is to only use the camera’s built-in LCD when you 100% need it. You will be able to also turn off the flash and continuous auto focus to reduce these items from using up your batteries.

Having spare batteries with you at all times is very important, whether you’re camera has its own special power pack or it takes rechargeable batteries, make sure you have several spares with you. Do not worry about your lack of experience, if you take some time to educate yourself and practice with your digital camera you’ll find it really easy to improve. Shortly you will leave behind the times when you tried to comprehend beginners digital photography and additionally you’ll be taking pictures you are genuinely proud of, if you have not already.

As you progress you will find that taking yourself to the next level from being in the digital photography for beginners category to a seasoned pro is only a question of time and dedication.

“The zoom made full frame shots a breeze.”

“If you are looking for a camera that takes really good sports photos or any photos, I would recommend this camera.”

“After using the camera for a while I have grown to like the shape because it helps keep the camera more steady and helps prevent dropping it. There is a ridge below where the index finger is, and above the other 3 fingers holding the camera. That helps keep a good grip on the camera which makes it steadier while shooting and helps prevent dropping it while carrying it around.”

This camera in a good investment for taking great photos.

Canvas Prints - Time To Express Yourself

Filed under: News and Views - 25 Dec 2008

Using Canvas Printing To Express Yourself

Taking digital photos and converting them to canvas prints is one of the easiest and best ways to truly express yourself.  A canvas printing of your favorite picture is something that really will stand out from a typical average everyday run of the mill photograph. The special techniques can make use of new and old photographs you have and convert them into canvas prints to hang in your office or home.

Important Aspects Of Canvas Printing

Many people consider canvas printing to be too difficult and in stead settle for sub par printing of their images.  The truth is that if you are willing to take the time to work on your pictures, you can use canvas printing to turn any picture into a work of art.  Whether you are doing still life, skylines, or personal subject is of no consequence as you can use software on you computer to make any these targets a reasonable subject for canvas printing.  I have seen people that do not even know how to use a camera be able to make wonderful pieces of art from images they either got from a friend or pulled of the internet.

If you do have a camera and want to get a fresh start on creating your canvas printing I suggest making sure that you have as high a resolution camera as you can find. You need to know that the canvas print will be much larger than s standard photograph and you don’t want the image to pixelate or appear grainy.A picture is worth a 1,000 words unless it’s a low quality images, and to although your photo editing software has tools to correct many of the issues, it maybe a better idea to consider buying a higher quality camera.  In addition to that you will some kind of photo editing software.  The software of choice for most people is Adobe Photoshop. The program includes a range of tools to turn your image into a work of art.  Whether you are adjust color, cropping in other images, or drawing directly onto the image yourself Adobe Photoshop will have what you need to get the job done.

After you get all that equipment you now need to find a place to print your photos.  You will find many websites that specialize in canvas printing and local shops, one we use is canvassquare.co.uk Try to find one that does because more then likely once you get one print and see what it looks like, you are going to want to get more.  I would find someone that you feel comfortable working with that does not charge an arm and a leg for their pictures.  But getting your photos printed  on canvas this way can be expensive and much more expensive then regular pictures.  I would expect to pay a minimum of £50 to get it done and that would be for the absolute smallest of photos 10×8.  Larger ones can cost over £100 or more, but shop arround.

Once you have all of these things in order the only thing left to do is find the images you want to work with.  Whether you are using a camera, scanning in old photos, or downloading some public images off of the internet, once you have the physical picture you want to work with dive right in and start editing. It’s best to save your work as you go along, maybe name project1 project1a 1b etc., this way with a saved copy close you don’t have to fear making a mistake.  Once you are ready to go, get in touch with the printer, send them the image and see what they think.  That is about it to canvas printing, so get out there and get started today!
